• Magazine article
• Newspaper
• Website article
• Television documentary
• Film documentary
• Radio documentary
• Video diary
• Fact-based website
• Blog
• Wiki
• Podcast
• Tweet
For This assignment I have been asked to write codes and conventions for a few of the options above.
Television news
programme
·
Set time to be
broadcast
A set time to be broadcasted is very important, so viewers know what time they would have to tune into the channel to listen/watch the news; for example if the news was a six o'clock on bbc 1 this would have to be a recurring thing so people know when the news comes on.
· Multi camera
Multi camara keep the viewers' attention through out the broadcast. In a Studio they would have multiple camera so they can get different angles of the presenter.
· Studio set up
The Studio would always be set up the same way. with the presenter front and a desk infront of him/her. This make the news programme keep a formal and professional look to it.
· Report structure
The writing and structuring any news story the format is easy to pick up. The most important information would be reported first and the least important information should go to the end. And as you move from important imformation to less important, the information presented should gradually become less important. For example if you were to report a story about a fire in which two people are killed and their house is burned down. the report would include all the information gathered about the story, like age, what time the fire broke out. The most important Information is that the couple died and information like the colour of the house would be left out.
· Background music
There wouldnt be backround music through out the news broadcast but they could possibly be at the start and end of it. The music wouldnt be offensive. Normally they are just a small tune without anyone singing/speaking throught it. It would also be the same everytime the news is broadcasted.
· Presenter sitting at a desk
· Field reporter
A field reporter is someone who doesnt report news from a studio, its who would go to appropriate location and report storys from there. The would still have a set time and speak clearly and formall but wouldnt need the use of mutli camera's
Newspaper
Titles
The title block contains the name of the newspaper; this is on
the front-page of every newspaper. There's always a dramatic headline in each
paper
images
The purpose of the images that are used in the newspapers are so
that the readers don't get bored from reading and also it grabs their
attention, or to go with the stories and headlines.
Price
The price of the newspaper is usually located in the pugs, these
are the areas at the top left and top right hand side of the pages, these grab
the readers eyesight and are used to show the date and price.
Local and National newspapers
The difference between a local newspaper and a national
newspapers is that in the local newspapers include local advertisements of
items that are for sale or wanted, local schools details, jobs within the area,
local company advertisement and classified adverts
Documentaries
· Voice over
Documentaries have a narrative voice over.
· Cameras
Hand Held cameras are used following their day to day activities depending on what the documentary is about.
· Sound and lighting
Natural sound and lighting is used when filming because the sun is the best source of light and it's doesn't cost any money.
· Interviews
Interviews are held with experts. And are Likely to be held in a studio this would be with witnesses and you would be able to get peoples views and opinions on the Subject
